Lake Country Lutheran's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Brookfield Academy. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Blue Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Lake Country Lutheran got a massive performance out of Isaiah Oksiuta, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave Oksiuta a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Poellot, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Lake Country Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookfield Academy only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Living Word Lutheran hadn't done well against Lake Country Lutheran recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Timberwolves blew past the Lightning 10-2. Winning may never get old, but the Timberwolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Gavin Weissenburger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Living Word Lutheran: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
Weissenburger wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Oliver, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Kaden Weissenburger was another, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.
Lake Country Lutheran's record is now 9-4. As for Living Word Lutheran, their record now sits at 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lake Country Lutheran has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Living Word Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
