Baseball Recap: Oakleaf Takes a Loss

Oakleaf was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fernandina Beach Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 7-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Oakleaf got a good showing from Henry Mills, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.

Oakleaf now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Fernandina Beach, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Oakleaf will square off against Union County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union County will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Oakleaf surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fernandina Beach, they will face off against Englewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Englewood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
