Basketball Recap: Freer Snaps 17-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Freer entered their matchup against Agua Dulce on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Freer Buckaroos fell 50-37 to the Agua Dulce Longhorns. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buckaroos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-27 back in January.

Agua Dulce's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Calvez, who went 6 for 13 en route to 12 points and four steals. Calvez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Ybarra, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Freer's loss ended a 17-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-5. As for Agua Dulce, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-4.

Freer will challenge Premont at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freer's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Premont's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Agua Dulce, they will welcome Santa Maria at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
