Baseball Recap: Framingham Comes Up Short

Framingham extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Weymouth Wildcats. The Flyers were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Weymouth, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For Weymouth's part, Liam Barr tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Barr has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Devin Kelsch was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Johnny Pires, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Framingham will face off against Nipmuc Regional at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Flyers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Weymouth, they will take on St. John's Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
