Baseball Game Preview: Pioneer Diamondbacks vs. Sharyland Rattlers

For the second straight game, Pioneer will face off against Sharyland. The Diamondbacks will be playing at home against the Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pioneer fell victim to Sharyland and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rattlers. The Diamondbacks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

For Sharyland's part, Fabrizio Salinas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Salinas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Roy Rodriguez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Sergio Ibarra was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Luis Cienfuegos, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Sharyland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Sharyland, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4-2.
