Football Recap: Southwestern Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Southwestern lost against Carlinville back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Piasa Birds took a blow against the Cavaliers, falling 43-10. While losing is never fun, the Piasa Birds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 153rd).

Carter Watson threw for 63 yards on six of 15 attempts. Blake Rimbey was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Southwestern and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Carlinville, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Southwestern will square off against rival Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carlinville is set to challenge their familiar foe Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Tate Duckels and Amony Anderson.
