Softball Recap: Attica Triumphs

Attica was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Covington Trojans. This was a revenge game for the Red Ramblers: when they faced off against the Trojans on Tuesday, they had to take a 25-9 loss.

Anni Reynolds made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Reynolds was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Beck, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season. Hayden Nichols was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Attica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive games.

The win got Attica back to even at 2-2. As for Covington, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Attica will take on South Newton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Covington, they will square off against Parke Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.86 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
