Softball Game Preview: Sandy Pioneers vs. McNary Celtics

Sandy has won four straight games at home, while McNary has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Pioneers will host the Celtics at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sandy 2.8, McNary 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sandy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Mountainside just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 5-0 to the Mavericks. The game marked the first time this year in which the Pioneers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, McNary was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over Sprague. The victory continues a trend for the Celtics in their matchups with the Olympians: they've now won three in a row.

Sandy's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for McNary, their win bumped their record up to an identical 8-3.

Sandy couldn't quite get it done against McNary when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
