Baseball Recap: Adams City Gets the Win

Adams City took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Skyline, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Falcons 5-3.

Christian Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Adams City is 2-1 when Ramirez posts ten or more strikeouts, but 2-3 otherwise. Ramirez was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

Ramirez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mauro Acosta, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Chris Valdez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory got Adams City back to even at 4-4. As for Skyline, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Adams City will face off against Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Skyline, they will square off against Longmont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
