Basketball Game Preview: Paulding County Patriots vs. Pebblebrook Falcons

The Paulding County Patriots will head out to take on the Pebblebrook Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Paulding County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.

Paulding County is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Hillgrove on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Paulding County came up short against Hillgrove, falling 74-54. The Patriots have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Paulding County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hope Johnson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards. Johnson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexus Wilson, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Pebblebrook was beaten by Campbell 68-21 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Spartans are ranked 12th).

Paulding County's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3. As for Pebblebrook, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Paulding County suffered a grim 62-37 defeat to Pebblebrook in their previous matchup back in November of 2014. Thankfully for Paulding County, Brandi Brown (who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
