Preview: St. Joseph Central Irish vs. Buffalo Bison
Two dominant guards in Grady Paynter and Asher Flanery are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. Joseph Central Irish will head out on the road to square off against the Buffalo Bison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
St. Joseph Central pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Wayne 68-62. It was the first time this season that St. Joseph Central let down their fans at home.
Meanwhile, Buffalo pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-61 to Wayne. Buffalo just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Buffalo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Flanery, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, and Jackson Mallett who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholoas Pitchford, who scored nine points.
Even though they lost, Buffalo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
St. Joseph Central's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-7. As for Buffalo, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
St. Joseph Central was taken down by Buffalo 69-35 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can St. Joseph Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
