Soccer Game Preview: Pilgrim vs. West Warwick

The Pilgrim Patriots will face off against the West Warwick Wizards at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Pilgrim is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Coventry, who was ranked 16th at the time (Pilgrim was ranked tenth). The Patriots fell 2-0 to the Oakers on Tuesday. Pilgrim haven't had much luck with Coventry recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times West Warwick and East Greenwich have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Wizards lost 5-0 to the Avengers.

West Warwick's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Pilgrim, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Pilgrim skirted past West Warwick 1-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Wizards have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
