Softball Recap: West Springfield Spartans vs. South County Stallions
West Springfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against South County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Stallions by a score of 8-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Stallions: they've now lost five in a row.
Layla Muten made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Carys Clipper also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
West Springfield's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for South County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
West Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against Woodson on the 1st. As for South County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-2 victory against Robinson on the 1st.
