Softball Recap: North Little Rock Has No Trouble Against Jonesboro

North Little Rock was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Jonesboro on Tuesday. The Charging Wildcats put the hurt on the Hurricane with a sharp 16-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Charging Wildcats in their matchups with the Hurricane: they've now won six in a row.

Presley Stewart and Londyn Dempster made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Stewart pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Dempster tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Stewart has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Stewart went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs, while Dempster got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those seven RBI gave Stewart a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sophia Gassman was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Kimmons, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

North Little Rock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jonesboro only posted an OBP of .387.

North Little Rock's record now sits at 7-8. As for Jonesboro, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, North Little Rock will face off against Cabot at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jonesboro, they will square off against Little Rock Southwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricane are facing the Gryphons at the right time seeing as the Gryphons are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
