Baseball Recap: Coleman Comes Up Short

Coleman extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-8 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Fulton Pirates. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Pirates when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Coleman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Young, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Young's first of the season.

As for Fulton, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Fulton's side, Lincoln Beltnick was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Beltnick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Duflo, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Billings, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Coleman will be playing at home against Manton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fulton, they are taking a road trip to take on Ovid-Elsie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
