14 must be Shelton's lucky number: they beat Branford with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Gaels didn't even let the Hornets on the board, marking the Gaels' second-straight 14-0 shutout. Considering the Gaels have won 12 contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sammi Denihan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Shelton got a massive performance out of Sadie Balocca, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Balocca has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Chayse DellaRocco, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Shelton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Shelton's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Branford, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
