Volleyball Recap: Evanston Falls Short Against Ranked Idaho Falls

Evanston is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Idaho Falls. The Devils fell 2-0 to the Tigers. If the Devils were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in September of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Evanston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brinley Hanks had 11 digs and one assist. Dannon Kohler also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Idaho Falls' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paisley Sobieski, who had 15 assists and three digs. Sobieski is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Evanston is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10. As for Idaho Falls, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4.

Evanston wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Centennial on the 20th. As for Idaho Falls, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Madison on the 20th.
