Soccer Game Preview: Gunnison Valley vs. Richfield

The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Richfield Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Gunnison Valley barely beat Millard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Gunnison Valley's defense stepped up to hand Millard a 4-0 shutout on Monday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 2.8 goals per game.

They hit Millard with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Chase Maples (2), Crew SPENCER, and John Adam Jackson.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Richfield). They put the hurt on South Sevier with a sharp 5-0 win on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won eight in a row.

The win (which was Gunnison Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Richfield, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Gunnison Valley beat Richfield 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gunnison Valley since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
