Basketball Recap: Noah Lampkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calvin Christian over San Diego Jewish Academy

Calvin Christian fought the good fight in their overtime game against San Diego Jewish Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the San Diego Jewish Academy Lions 60-56. The Crusaders just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Calvin Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Lampkins, who shot 4-for-5 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lampkins a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Caleb Lapka, who posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Jack Silberstein continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for San Diego Jewish Academy, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 24 boards. Silberstein continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaron Sharf, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Calvin Christian now has a losing record at 6-7. As for San Diego Jewish Academy, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvin Christian will venture away from home to challenge Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Diego Jewish Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Orange Glen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Diego Jewish Academy is facing Orange Glen at the right time seeing as Orange Glen is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
