Desperation heave turns into national Play of the Year nominee as Oakleaf remains undefeated in stunning fashion.

Oakleaf (Orange Park, Fla.) is 4-0 this season and has won three barnburners. But even if the Knights continue this cardiac trend, they likely won't be able to surpass the finish of Friday's 16-14 win over previously unbeaten Atlantic Coast.

On the game's final play, quarterback Jordan Johnson scrambled to his left and from beyond midfield fired up a pass that landed about 10 yards short of the end zone.

Ten players — five from each side — went up for it and after the ball was tipped twice, Oakleaf's Darius Perry came down with it at the 8 and sprinted into the end zone untouched for the win.

Oakleaf 16, Atlantic Coast 14.

Bedlam.

It will no doubt go down as a national Play of the Year nominee.

"I knew the play was going to the left, so I had to get over there," Perry told Clayton Freeman of Jacksonville.com. "Anything could happen."

But Oakleaf coach Derek Chipoletti said it wasn't a coincidence Perry was the right man at the right time.

"He does everything right all the time, and good things happen to good people," he said.

In this case, a great thing. At least for him and the Knights.
