Recap: West Broward Bobcats vs. Doral Academy Firebirds
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the West Broward Bobcats can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Firebirds on the road and fell 73-10. While losing is never fun, West Broward can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 391st, while Doral Academy is ranked 20th).
Doral Academy found their leader in underclassman Ashley Martinez, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Martinez hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Deleon, who scored ten points along with four steals.
West Broward has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Doral Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-7.
West Broward does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Doral Academy, they will be playing at home against Flanagan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Flanagan is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
