Recap: Carver Montgomery Wolverines vs. Lanier Poets
After losing to the Lanier Poets the last time they met, the Carver Montgomery Wolverines decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Carver Montgomery came out on top in a nail-biter against Lanier on Friday and snuck past 52-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for Carver Montgomery.
It was another big night for Conor McPherson, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The matchup was his 16th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Frazier, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.
Carver Montgomery's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Lanier, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver Montgomery will challenge Stanhope Elmore at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stanhope Elmore is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Lanier, they will head out on the road to face off against Tallassee at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Tallassee is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
