Preview: Amite Warriors vs. Denham Springs Yellowjackets
The Amite Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Denham Springs Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Amite will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Amite has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They blew past University Lab 75-55. Given Amite's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while University Lab is ranked 138th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Amite got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Miracle Irving out in front who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. The game was Irving 's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Saniya Addison was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 4 steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Denham Springs' good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 62-36 defeat at the hands of Walker. Denham Springs has not had much luck with Walker recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Amite pushed their record up to 9-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Denham Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2.
Everything came up roses for Amite against Denham Springs when the teams last played back in January of 2021 as the team secured a 85-27 win. Does Amite have another victory up their sleeve, or will Denham Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
