2A District 2 recap September 17, 2013
Crooked Oak scaled the state rankings by moving to 109 from 160 this week, the biggest jump in 2A District 2. The Ruf-Nex climbed the ranks as a result of besting Frederick 49-0.
Millwood was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Douglass. The Falcons came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.
Corbin Metz was the best wideout in the league this week as Oklahoma Christian defeated Tonkawa. Metz tallied 4 receptions for 74 yards. Cameron James helped Oklahoma Christian's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 60 yards.
Seth Stivers provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Luther topped Hinton. He completed 5 passes for 80 yards and also ran for 122 yards. Stivers' favorite target this week was Maurice Wright, who caught 4 passes for 73 yards.
Wright was the best running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 186 yards as the Lions beat the Buccaneers.
Spencer Lindsey put up the best numbers in passing as Christian Heritage defeated Mount St. Mary. He had a total of 13 completions for 182 yards. Lindsey's favorite target this week was Gabe LittleJim, who caught 2 passes for 62 yards.
The Crusaders' 6-foot-5 quarterback Lindsey is the league leader in passing yards this season with 258. The leading receiver in the league this season is Collin Bailey. The Luther star has 3 catches for 93 yards.
Crooked Oak took down the Bombers 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
