Basketball Recap: Evelyn Young and Foley Anderson Secure Win for Austin

Austin proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 44) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Tompkins Falcons.

Leading Austin to victory were Foley Anderson and Evelyn Young. Anderson almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Young went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. What's more, Anderson also racked up three blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Hillard, who posted five points and three steals.

Austin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Tompkins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-34 victory against Round Rock Westwood on the 28th. As for Tompkins, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-44 defeat against Antonian Prep on the 28th.
