Softball Recap: Houghton Lake Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Houghton Lake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Lake City Trojans. With that victory, the Bobcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Madison Rankin and Kaylie Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Rankin scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Moore went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Megan Houserman, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

With the win, Houghton Lake broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4. As for Lake City, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat Houghton Lake by a score of 10-4 later that day.
