Football Game Preview: Lee Academy Colts vs. Pillow Academy Mustangs

Lee Academy is 0-3 against Pillow Academy since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Colts will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Lee Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Lee Academy is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Regents: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Colts blew the Lions out of the water with a 46-6 final score. The Colts might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Desi Monix, who rushed for 296 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 17.4 yards per carry. Monix is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 115 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Lively, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lee Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 428 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 173 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Pillow Academy came up short against Heritage Academy on Friday, falling 28-7.

Lee Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.4 points over those games. As for Pillow Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Lee Academy couldn't quite get it done against Pillow Academy in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 as they fell 27-20. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
