Basketball Recap: Kynadee Britton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sissonville over Wayne

If Sissonville was feeling good fresh off their 58-17 takedown of Lincoln County last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sissonville Indians came up short against the Wayne Pioneers on Friday, falling 63-42. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 75-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kynadee Britton, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Britton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makaela Ullman, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaycelyn Sammons, who posted 19 points and five assists. Brooke Adkins was another key player, going 7 of 15 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Sissonville's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Wayne, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Sissonville has already played their next contest, a 52-29 loss against Charleston Catholic on the 10th. As for Wayne, they will challenge Parkersburg South at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wayne is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.
