Softball Recap: Glenwood Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Glenwood extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday, bumping them up to 18-1. Everything went their way against the Normal Community Ironmen as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 15 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Irie Lohrenz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Kiel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gracyn Lewis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Normal Community, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since April 25th.

On Normal Community's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Engel, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Glenwood and Normal Community should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Titans (ranked fifth) will meet Marion (ranked 36th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Glenwood 1.1, the Wildcats 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Normal Community will take on Richwoods at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (127 vs. 426).
