Basketball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 91-21 loss at the hands of the York Institute Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, with their most recent loss being a 91-18 defeat back in January.

Monterey lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ali Novak, who posted five points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (33%). Allie Bruschie also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Monterey's loss dropped their record down to 1-24. As for York Institute, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey will face off against Red Boiling Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monterey is facing Red Boiling Springs at the right time seeing as Red Boiling Springs is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for York Institute, they will square off against Smith County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Smith County will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something York Institute surely won't give up without a fight.
