Basketball Recap: Pershing County's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Pershing County lost against Yerington back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pershing County Mustangs fell 60-52 to the Yerington Lions. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Pershing County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amare Rosas posted 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Rosas. Travis Donaldson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Kenneth Picotte was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds for Yerington. Picotte has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Toby Juarez, who put up 13 points.

Pershing County's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8. As for Yerington, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Pershing County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-61 defeat against North Tahoe on the 4th. As for Yerington, they will venture away from home to challenge West Wendover at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. West Wendover is on a five-game streak of home wins, Yerington a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
