Volleyball Recap: Lancaster Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lancaster can now relate to. They lost 3-0 to the Mineral Point Pointers on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Flying Arrows of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

While Lancaster was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-22.

Maddie Burr paced Lancaster's offense, picking up six kills. Burr got some help from Relly Hoerth and her 14 assists. Finally, Burr was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Mineral Point's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophie Miller, who had 19 assists and four digs. Another player making a difference was Ava Ingwell, who had 14 digs.

Lancaster's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Mineral Point, their win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 35-4.

Lancaster does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mineral Point, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against River Valley on the 25th.
