Basketball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Comes Up Short

Perry-Lecompton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 55-44 to the Atchison County Tigers. The Kaws were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Leading Atchison County to victory were Kinzee Bauerle and Kori Wagner. Bauerle went 9 for 19 on her way to 24 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Wagner almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine assists. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Bauerle has scored at least a third of Atchison County's points. Another player making a difference was Ava Speer, who posted ten points.

Perry-Lecompton's loss dropped their record down to 1-11-1. As for Atchison County, they moved to 5-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Perry-Lecompton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-40 victory against Valley Falls on the 1st. As for Atchison County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 40-38 defeat against Atchison on the 1st.
