Baseball Recap: Middleton Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

The third road game was the charm for Middleton, as they earned their first road win of the season. They came out on top against the Skyline Grizzlies by a score of 9-5 on Thursday. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 10-1 victory the Grizzlies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2018.

Ament Gavin looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Collins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Drew Holman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Middleton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Middleton's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.6 runs. As for Skyline, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Middleton will head out to square off against Twin Falls at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Skyline, they will square off against Caldwell at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Skyline is facing Caldwell at the right time seeing as Caldwell is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
