Baseball Recap: Pike Central Takes a Loss

Pike Central extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-15. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Evansville Bosse Bulldogs. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Pike Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kody Carter, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Evansville Bosse, their win bumped their record up to 6-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Pike Central since April 25, 2018.

On Evansville Bosse's side, Luke Curtis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks. Curtis has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 1-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jhossep Bompart Martinez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Landyn Fisher also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, Pike Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Tell City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Evansville Bosse, they will face off against Evansville Harrison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
