Basketball Recap: Layton Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Danielle (Dani) Vowles and Jamie Vowles

Layton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The game between them and the Bingham Miners didn't end well, with the Layton Lancers falling 44-26. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Miners from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Layton's loss came despite strong showings from Jamie Vowles and Danielle (Dani) Vowles. Jamie posted six points, while Danielle (Dani) put up three points. Jamie continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bingham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addy Horsley, who had 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Evalyn Roberts was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Bingham, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Layton will take on Cyprus in a holiday battle at at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bingham, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-34 win against Timpview on the 13th.
