Basketball Recap: St. Michael Comes Up Short

St. Michael was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Pinon Eagles, falling 88-51. The Cardinals lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 64-54 score last time.

St. Michael's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Pinon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Michael will take on San Carlos in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ryan Legah and Leandro Simbolo. As for Pinon, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northland Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
