Baseball Recap: Gladewater's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Gladewater dropped their record down to 15-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell 6-1 to the West Rusk Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in March.

Gladewater saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madaxx Vasquez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

As for West Rusk, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On West Rusk's side, Cole Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jackson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Rusk is 7-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10-1 otherwise. Jackson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gunner Harp, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of West Rusk's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 10-11-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kam Brown, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Gladewater nor West Rusk have any future games scheduled.
