Softball Recap: Foresthill Drops Highest Score of Season Against Faith Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foresthill). They put the hurt on the Faith Christian Lions with a sharp 19-8 victory on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-8 back in March.

Lynnsey Drone made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Marissa Miller was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Lorance, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Foresthill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Foresthill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Faith Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Foresthill will look to defend their home field on Monday against Leroy Greene Academy at 4:00 p.m. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.08 runs per game on average), something the Wildfires will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Faith Christian, they will head out to take on Encina at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
