Basketball Game Preview: Center Hill Mustangs vs. Grenada Chargers

The Center Hill Mustangs will challenge the Grenada Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Grenada will be up against a hot Center Hill squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Center Hill enjoyed a cozy 56-41 victory over Saltillo on Tuesday.

Madison S. Hughes was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points along with seven boards and seven steals. She has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Kennedy Hulbert was another key player, posting 12 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Grenada strolled past Rosa Fort with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 62-46.

Grenada's win came from a few key players Center Hill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carlei Brown, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Madison Woodard, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Grenada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Grenada is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Center Hill, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13.

Everything came up roses for Center Hill against Grenada when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 65-37 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Brown, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Center Hill still be able to contain Brown? There's only one way to find out.
