Football Recap: Miramonte Comes Up Short

Miramonte was the 40-3 winner over Windsor when they last played one another back in September of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Matadors took a blow against the Jaguars on Friday, falling 59-21. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Jaguars are ranked 145th).

Windsor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Vose lll out in front who threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.7 yards per attempt. Those 274 passing yards gave Vose lll a new career-high. Windsor's leading receiver Blayke Ferronato was Vose lll's top target yet again, picking up 162 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Miramonte and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Windsor, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miramonte will challenge College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Matadors will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Windsor, after each having a week off, they and Cardinal Newman will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Jaguars 11, the Cardinals 13.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
