Basketball Recap: Hondo Avington's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Webster over Kansas

If Webster was feeling good fresh off their 71-28 takedown of Dove Science Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Webster Warriors took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kansas Comets on Tuesday.

Webster lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hondo Avington, who shot 50% from the field en route to 15 points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Kimble, who posted 17 points.

Webster has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points over those games. Kansas has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Webster does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kansas, they will take on Kiefer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kansas will be up against Kiefer's rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.23 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
