Basketball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Oak Ridge Trojans

Whitney is 1-9 against Oak Ridge since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Whitney Wildcats will take on the Oak Ridge Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Whitney was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-44 to St. Francis. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Troubadours are ranked 301st).

Meanwhile, Oak Ridge entered their tilt with Davis Sr. on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 44-28 win over the Blue Devils.

Oak Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Whitney, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

Whitney came up short against Oak Ridge when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 51-43. Can Whitney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
