Baseball Recap: North Sanpete Hawks vs. Juab Wasps
North Sanpete had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 8-11 to make it five. They lost 11-1 to the Juab Wasps. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wasps this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in March.
North Sanpete saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Madsen, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Juab, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games.
On Juab's side, Connor Cowan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cowan has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Juab let Trevin Park and Madix Stowell run wild. Park got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Stowell went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most runs Park has posted since back in March of 2024. Austin Park was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Sanpete will venture away from home to challenge Canyon View at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Juab, they are taking a road trip to face off against Carbon at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
