Hillsborough was the 14-13 winner over Phillipsburg when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Hillsborough Raiders took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Phillipsburg Stateliners on Friday. The Raiders were down 42-20 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Hillsborough still got an impressive performance from Jackson Jankowicz, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 79 receiving yards.

Genovese also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending a pass. A healthy portion of that aerial production (153 yards to be exact) went to Matthew Scerbo Jr., who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Hillsborough's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Phillipsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Hillsborough will face off against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Phillipsburg, they will venture away from home to face off against West Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Orange's defense has only allowed nine points per game this season, so Phillipsburg's offense will have their work cut out for them.
