Wharton is 7-1 against Sweeny since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wharton Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Sweeny Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Wharton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Wharton came up short against Brazosport and fell 56-48. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wharton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacoryan Dickerson, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and three blocks, and Keilon Jackson, who put up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Keon Jackson, who had two points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Wharton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Sweeny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were beaten by La Marque 96-30. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1401st, while the Cougars are ranked 125th).

Sweeny's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Wharton, their loss dropped their record down to 16-10.

Wharton came up short against Sweeny in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 64-56. Can Wharton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
