Football Recap: South Allegheny Gladiators vs. Ligonier Valley Rams
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Allegheny). They claimed a resounding 62-14 win over the Ligonier Valley Rams. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-7.
South Allegheny had a senior duo take command as Joey Gamret rushed for 92 yards and a pair of TDs and Drew Cook picked up 79 receiving yards and two scores. Tyrone Claytor also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for South Allegheny, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cook, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
South Allegheny didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cook.
