Softball Game Preview: Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs vs. First Academy Eagles

The Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs will square off against the First Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Meadowbrook Academy: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while First Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Meadowbrook Academy fell victim to Riverside Christian and their airtight pitching crew last Friday. They came up short against the Wranglers, falling 15-0.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Monday. First Academy came out on top against Calvary Chapel Academy by a score of 10-5.

Rebecca Barnett made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Neiford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Madi Myers was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

First Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The win got First Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Meadowbrook Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Meadowbrook Academy might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from First Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Meadowbrook Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
