Recap: Willow Spring Storm vs. Corinth Holders Pirates
The Willow Spring Storm scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 68-57 win over Corinth Holders. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Willow Spring was led to victory by Grant Overman and Brandon Solomon. Overman dropped a triple-double on ten points, 17 rebounds, and 11 blocks, while Solomon dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Overman hasn't dropped below two blocks for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavion Terrell, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Defeat or not, Corinth Holders got some senior leadership from Evan Smith who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and Max Carlson who scored 12 points along with four steals and three blocks. Tyler Sandaire was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Willow Spring's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Corinth Holders, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-13.
Willow Spring will be playing at home against Fuquay - Varina at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Fuquay - Varina is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Corinth Holders on the road again on Friday and play against Clayton at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Clayton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 397 points over their last six contests.
