Football Game Preview: Newton County Academy Generals vs. Kemper Academy Rams

Newton County Academy has gone a perfect 4-0 against Kemper Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Generals will venture away from home to face off against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Kemper Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Newton County Academy, who comes in off a win.

Newton County Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Prentiss Christian, who was ranked 13th at the time (Newton County Academy was ranked second). The Generals breezed past the Saints to the tune of 36-0 last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won three matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Newton County Academy's defense and their five sacks. Taylor Burt was especially locked on to Prentiss Christian's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, Kemper Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Prentiss Christian.

The victory made it two in a row for Newton County Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Kemper Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Newton County Academy against Kemper Academy when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 55-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
